The home of embroidery and stitched textiles in

Durham City

Gallery of Members' Work

Embroidery is no longer restricted to traditional embroidery making useful items for the home. Sometimes we do produce such items, but now we like to experiment with different materials; sometimes raiding the tool box and DIY store for unusual items to add extra interest. We use many techniques including hand embroidery, appliqué, free machine embroidery (FME), machine stitching, felting, and many others.

We like to experiment with layered textiles, incorporating old as well as new fabrics. Some fabrics are hand painted others are dyed with chemical dyes or other natural products such tea or rust. In our samples below some techniques will be familiar, others may be new to you.

Our galleries below include a selection of works from exhibitions that were based on a given theme, others are a collection from our travelling books, recent workshops or our monthly 'show and tell' sessions.
